Children's Director
I was born again and began attending Word of Faith Center in 1984, when the church was still in a storefront building. I began to teach in the children's department in 1989 and became the Director of Sunday School in 1990. In 1993 I became the Children's Director and this is where I have enjoyed serving the Lord.
My desire is for every child to have the opportunity to learn and know who God is through a personal relationship with Jesus. Here at Word of Faith Center, we are excited about the many different classroom opportunities we have for each child to learn and grow. Each classroom, beginning at birth, is carefully planned to develop our children mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally into the men and women of God they are created to be. I appreciate the many dedicated and faithful staff volunteers who help every child in knowing they are loved and accepted by Jesus, our Savior. It is exciting to see each child encouraged with ministry opportunities to exercise their gifts and talents placed in them by God. It has been so stimulating for me throughout the years to see so many children grow in their relationship with God and each other through serving Him and others.
Sunday School
Sunday school meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM and is for ages 3 to 13. Bible lessons are taught using various techniques such as puppets, drama, video, and story time. Along with praise and worship before each class, the children learn to pray the classroom.
"My desire for every child is that God would be real to them and they would know God has a plan and purpose for their life. I want the children to know how important they are to God." Judy VanSchoiack, Director of Sunday school
Vision
Empower children through God's Word to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Mission
To equip children with the Word of God through Bible-based curriculum and an anointed teaching staff.
The Staff
The Sunday school staff consists of dedicated teachers and teacher assistants. Many of our teachers have been on our staff for more than ten years.
Wednesday Night Preschool and Kids Church
Mission
To apply Biblical training to life application.
If your children are in 1st through 6th grade, come and meet with us in the Fellowship Hall every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. During this time your children are taught Biblical principles through drama, video, and lessons that are relevant for everyday application. Teaching God's Word to your child is an exciting task that we believe will pay enormous dividends! We are committed to your child's Christian education, equipping them with valuable tools to recognize Jesus in everything they see, hear, and do. Each activity is geared to help them experience the reality of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
Preschool is for ages three through Kindergarten to attend. Our goal is to provide a safe, learning environment while teaching our children basic required skills in phonics with hands on practice using necessary techniques needed to make them successful leaders as they enter school. Children receive a Bible lesson and use skills such as gluing, puzzles, scissors, painting, and related activities using letters and numbers.
How do you make Bible stories and characters come to life for preschoolers and kindergarteners? We do this through songs, skits, crafts, and worship, which are centered on God's Word as it relates to their everyday live. We want to be a supportive resource to nurture your child's spiritual growth and development.
"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." Matthew 18:5
Royal Rangers
Our Purpose
To evangelize and develop boys for Christ spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially, while keeping them in church.
Our Aim
To instruct, challenge, and inspire boys in the areas of Bible doctrine, Christian service, moral conduct, and basic beliefs of our church through interesting activities.
Our Goals
- To instruct in Bible doctrine. When a boy completes this program, he should have a basic knowledge of what the Bible teaches.
- To challenge for Christian service. When a boy completes this program, he should be ready to take his place in the area of Christian service where God wants him to be.
- To inspire a belief in the fundamental beliefs of our church.
- To satisfy a boy's need for activity. A boy engaged in this program should have more than enough interesting activities to do to prevent him from being tempted to engage in unwholesome activities.
Royal Ranger Pledge
With God's help, I will do my best to serve God, my church, and my fellowman; to live by the Ranger Code; to make the Golden Rule my daily rule.
Royal Ranger Motto—"Ready"
Ready for anything! Ready to work, play, serve, worship, live, and obey God's Word.
As a Ranger ...
As a Ranger, a young man will experience growth in four ways:
- Physically: their bodies will grow strong through proper exercise and diet.
- Spiritually: their spirits will grow strong through prayer, Bible study, and witnessing.
- Mentally: their minds will grow strong by reading, studying, and memorizing scripture passages.
- Socially: their relationships with people will grow strong by learning how to treat them.
Age Groups
There are four different age groups:
- Ranger Kids: the trail to fun and adventure is an exciting program for boys in kindergarten, first, and second grades.
- Discovery Rangers: a fun and exciting program for boys in the third, fourth, and fifth grades. Not only does the boy get to discover great indoor and outdoor activities, he will get to make many new friends.
- Adventure Rangers: for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade youth. A Ranger is one who explores new frontiers, so the Adventure Ranger will explore new areas as he learns the history of Royal Rangers and takes advantage of opportunities for the future.
- Expedition Rangers: is the exciting ministry for older youth. It has four primary categories: achievement, leadership training skills, service through ministry opportunities, and activities through high action adventure such as canoeing, camping, and hiking.
Royal Rangers meet every Sunday evening at 6:00 PM in our Fellowship Hall and then breaks into the smaller groups. For more information, please call the Word of Faith Center office at 582-5608.
Missionettes
Missionettes is an exciting program for girls, beginning at 3 years of age through 5th grade. Our purpose is to train up girls to become godly women who effectively disciple others.
Missionettes meet every Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the assigned classrooms. For more information, email info@wofc.org or call the Word of Faith Center office at 582-5608.
History of the Missionettes
Early in the 1950s, women began to see a need for a program to teach missions to young women and to prepare them for future involvement in Women's Ministries. The national Women's Ministries Department developed the Missionettes program in response to this need. The first Missionettes club was officially chartered in January 1956. Since then, Missionettes clubs continue to be organized across the United States and in many foreign countries. Along the way, revisions have been made, such as age and grade-level changes, additions, and modifications in the achievement programs. But the ultimate purpose of Missionettes—winning girls to Jesus Christ and teaching them to live victoriously—has never changed.
Mission
- Providing effective discipleship tools and support to districts and local churches.
- Enabling leaders to accomplish the fivefold purpose of Missionettes through women mentoring girls.
- Believing God for a harvest of girls—fulfilling His perfect plan for their lives.
The Fivefold Purpose
- To win girls to Jesus Christ through love and acceptance.
- To teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded us, developing girls spiritually and mentally.
- To provide encouragement, support, and accountability through lasting Christian relationships.
- To provide an environment for girls to develop their gifts and abilities.
- To acquaint them with the great commission of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Four Age Groups
- Rainbows Club: This is for ages 3 and 4. Noah's ark provides an exciting theme for Bible stories, crafts, full color activity pages, and games for this preschool club. Rainbows add colorful animal badges to their vests as they complete requirements for the achievement program. Units can be completed in four weeks and only nine units need to be completed each year.
- Daisies: This is for kindergarten girls. Darcy, Diana, and Dorie (paper dolls) help Daisies make life applications from the Bible stories and principles they learn. Daisies earn colorful badges depicting these club characters as they complete requirements for the achievement program. Four-week units allow new children to fit in right away. Club sponsors and girls select the nine units they want to complete during the year.
- Prims: The Discovery Club is for 1st and 2nd grade girls. Megan, Carmen, Kim, and Tonya guide Prims through life-application stories as the girls learn Biblical principles. The discovery box stores lesson-related objects to be displayed during lesson time and make learning even more fun. Prims earn colorful badges depicting these club characters as they complete requirements for the achievement program. Units can be completed in four weeks; 18 units are all that is required in two years.
- Stars Club: This is for girls 3rd through 5th grade. Girls make their way up the stairway of the Stars achievement program as they complete units in the four worlds: The World of Truth (basic Christian doctrine), The World Around You (missions), The World About You (activites), and The World Within You (character development). Memorization, projects, and Bible reading are all a part of completing the achievement program as an Honor Star. Four-week units are supplemented with projects and adventures.
Little Soldiers Infant/Toddler Ministry and Co-op
It is our sincere desire to provide a safe and comfortable environment to maximize your child's spiritual, physical, mental, and social development. As a co-op ministry, most of our caregivers are parents. All parents and caregivers go through a training session with our training assistant, who is a dedicated teacher with a heart to educate and equip you with our nursery procedures.
Mission
The passion of our nursery ministry is to care for babies and provide a loving, nurturing environment. This frees parents to attend services and grow in their relationship with the Lord. Our focus is to provide a loving atmosphere while teaching Bible stories, songs, games, crafts, and encouraging Christ-centered growth in children.
"From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise"
Psalm 8:2
Enlisting your little solider
- All Little Soldier visitors (birth through 2 years old) are welcome in our nursery. Age's birth through 1 year is in Room 12, and 2-year-olds are in Room 11.
- Check-in time begins 20 minutes before each service. To better equip caregivers, we ask that you fill out a visitor's card for each child entering the nursery.
If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren) in this ministry, parent(s) are agreeing to serve a minimum of one service per month and are on-call a minimum of one service per month.
Praise Team
"Sing songs to God, sing out! Sing to our King, sing praise! He's Lord over the earth, so sing your best songs to God." Psalm 47:6-7
Vision: To create an atmosphere of opportunity where children are trained and assisted in leading praise and worship.
Mission: To lead other children in worship to God in spirit and truth. To truly be worship oriented and not focused on performance.
Praise Team Worship Values
- To create an atmosphere that invites God's presence.
- To release children into the presence of God.
- To celebrate and exalt God's awesome power.
- To evangelize and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- To bring forth healing.
- To seek God.
Teacher's Assistants Ministry
Vision
To create an atmosphere of opportunity where a young adult is trained to assist the teacher in any area needed while learning how to minister to other children.
Mission
Taking a willing vessel that has been trained to minister in arts and crafts, story time, and personal working to be a positive influence of the love of Jesus for our future ambassadors.
